This webinar is the 3rd installment in our series: Teaching Kitchens: Transforming Lives - A Four-Part Study of Behavior Change. This session is entitled Tasting Success - Evaluating Your Teaching Kitchen Program to Assess Behavior Change. It is designed for teaching kitchen practitioners who are newer to evaluation, and will focus on both quantitative and qualitative evaluation methods.
Lynn Fredericks, Founder and teaching kitchen pioneer at FamilyCook Productions and Pam Koch, Faculty Director at the Tisch Food Center, Teacher’s College, Columbia University will guide participants through the initial stages of evaluation, including the critical differentiation between process and outcome evaluation. This session will also delve into the appropriate use of various evaluation tools and methodologies suitable for different types of research, emphasizing practical applications and real-world examples provided by Karina Díaz Rios, PhD, RDN, from the UC Merced Agriculture and Natural Resources, and Mical K. Shilts, PhD, Professor of Nutrition, Food & Dietetics, at Sacramento State University. Miranda A. Moore, PhD, from Emory University will share examples of tools and resources for getting started with program evaluation. Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of when IRB approvals are necessary, and how to effectively utilize tools for evaluation.
