Registered dietitian nutritionists (RDNs) are central to teaching kitchen-based care, yet many programs still struggle to bill consistently, compliantly, and sustainably for RDN services. This webinar will feature an in-depth case study from UW Health, highlighting how one organization transformed RDN billing from a barrier into a reimbursable, scalable clinical service.

Kelley Wilson, RDN, will share UW Health’s experience implementing outpatient dietitian billing within teaching kitchen and clinical nutrition programs. Drawing from real-world implementation, she will discuss how her team addressed noncompliant practices, removed facility fees, aligned diagnoses with reimbursable codes, and partnered with compliance, revenue cycle, and clinical leadership to operationalize change. Kelley will also share outcomes to date and lessons learned as the program continues to scale.

The session will be complemented by perspectives from Livleen Gill, MBA, RDN, LDN, FAND, past president of the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics, who will provide national context on the evolving reimbursement landscape and the Academy’s broader strategy to address systemic payment barriers. The discussion will highlight how regulatory advocacy, payer engagement, legislative strategy, and value-based care initiatives are shaping more sustainable reimbursement pathways for nutrition services and strengthening long-term opportunities for RDN practice.
